Introducing HEALTHe BIKERpad for Commuting in Style
HEALTHe BIKER is working to launch gyms specifically for bicycle commuters. The first HEALTHe BIKERpad will be in beautiful Tampa Bay FL. This area is begging for a BIKERpad to maximize its latent potential for widespread bike commuting.
On one side of the Courtney Campbell Causeway, connecting Clearwater to Tampa, FL, Pinellas County has the highest residential population in the state. Immediately across the Causeway in Tampa, the Westshore business district is the most heavily concentrated business district in the state. The 10-mile Courtney Campbell Causeway connects all these residents to all these businesses. It now has its own dedicated/protected bike trail which even includes a totally separate (read safe!) bike bridge parallel to the automobile bridge.
This allows Pinellas County residents a safe bicycle commute over the Causeway trail to Tampa the Westshore business district begins only a few short blocks from the trail termination. That’s where we aim to place the inaugural HEALTHe BIKERpad! We’re super excited to see this launch come to fruition. We know we can see it help so many commuters get to work by bike in a way that’s practical and rewarding.
Best of all, we think your health insurance should cover the membership. After all, biking to work will help you stay healthy, and save them money.
So here’s how a HEALTHe BIKERpad Membership can make your commute better.
What to Expect from a HEALTHe BIKERpad
We’re still in the early stages of bringing a HEALTHe BIKERpad to Tampa, but we’re pumped nonetheless! With a HEALTHe BIKERpad, we want to be able to help commuters overcome all the struggles of biking to work.
What is a HEALTHe BIKERpad?
It’s part gym, part storage center, and part home away from home. We’re looking to open HEALTHe BIKERpad in spots that are uniquely favorable to maximizing the potential for widespread bicycle commuting. We want to make it convenient and pleasurable for commuters to get to and from work via bike.
At a HEALTHe BIKERpad, you’ll have space to safely store your belongings, get cleaned up, and get ready for work.
HEALTHe BIKERpads will provide a safe, secure place for you to store your bike. No more locking it up on the side of the street, your bike will be stored directly inside the HEALTHe BIKERpad.
You’ll be able to lock up your bike again for extra safety. Your bike is safe from unscrupulous people on the street, and it’ll be behind two locks for extra security.
But you’ll also have a safe spot to store your other belongings too.
Feel free to bring in several days worth of clothes, snacks, or anything you’ll need during the workweek. You’ll ha
Laundry on Site
Each HEALTHe BIKERpad will have a washer and dryer on-site. You can wash your workout gear before it gets musty, and clean and store your work clothes. Any laundry and dry cleaning you need to get done you can clean here.
Biking to work can get stinky, especially if you have a long commute. So we have showers on-site so you can rinse off and feel clean and confident before you step foot in the office.
We want you to relax at your HEALTHe BIKERpad. Expect areas to sit and relax. Squeeze in some work as you wait for your laundry, or maybe play some chess, cards or ping pong with a fellow biker. This should be a place where you can make friends with like-minded individuals.
Sounds pretty cool right? Let us know what you want to see in a HEALTHe BIKERpad, and where we should open up next.
Here’s Why You Should Ask Your Health Insurance to Cover Membership
We want to see everyone have access to a HEALTHe BIKERpad. We may be able to offer a sliding scale option to give everyone a chance at membership. But we’d like to see your health insurance chip in too.
It’s not uncommon for health insurance to cover gym memberships. Many of them offer programs that cover up to $250 a year for gym fees. While this won’t cover a year for most gyms, any little bit helps.
Your health insurance covers wellness exams because you’re being proactive about your health. They should cover your membership fees as well.
In the same idea, commuting to work is preemptively caring for your health. Biking daily has great benefits for your health. Regular biking fights some of the deadliest (and most expensive) physical ailments. It prevents diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity-related illnesses. Plus it keeps you fit and healthy longer.
So because you’re a biker, your insurance company will have to shell out less money throughout your life. It only makes sense for them to chip in for your HEALTHe BIKERpad membership. It’s a good financial decision.
Call your insurance provider and see if they cover gym memberships. If they do, ask them to cover ours. When you bike to work, you’re keeping yourself healthy. But you’re also contributing to a healthier environment for the planet as a whole.
Talk to Your Employer
If your health insurance doesn’t cover gym memberships, your employer might. Many employers offer a perk to contribute to parking fees or gym memberships. After all, an employee who exercises is more efficient and productive at work. Let your boss know it’s financially smart to cover your HEALTHe BIKERpad membership.
HEALTHe BIKERpads Will Make Your Commute Better
We want to see a world where everyone has access to HEALTHe BIKERpads. They’ll make it easier for people to commute to work and create healthier people, and a healthier world as a whole.
Reach out to your insurance company today and ask if they cover gym memberships. If they do, see if they’ll cover membership fees for a HEALTHe BIKERpad. Then let us know what you want to see in a HEALTHe BIKERpad!
While this article has catered to end-users, we also want to throw down the gauntlet to you insurance companies: who will be the first insurance company to do the simple math on mental health alone and realize the exponential ROI on subsidizing HEALTHe BIKERpad membership for bicycle commuters?
